These individuals, Carlos Vicente and promising singer Yolanda Soares
Soares and Vicente are under serious scrutiny by the Portuguese Fraud authorities.
They face several criminal charges at Cascais Court (Tribunal da Comarca de Cascais-Lisbon)
(because Soares has won no official recognition to date) in a desperate attempt to boost much needed popularity, conjured up and followed through a seriously illegal and subsequently criminal plan of Misleading Misrepresentation by imprinting this false “An’R Award of Excellence” on every CD cover (both her works, Music Box-Fado in Concert and mainly Metamorphosis, display this as some sort of “Grammy Award”),

and even secured sponsorship by one of the local banks, who subsequently made sure the artist's complete profile was deleted from their institutional website... scandals are bad for business indeed:

The false award issue caught the attention of Portuguese and Australian authorities already back in 2010 and this singer, manager and their label www.bythemusic.pt By The Music, are currently being investigated for suspicion of fraud and misrepresentation (false and/or misleading representation of goods and/or services). In Australia these are the penalties:
Penalties
Making false or misleading representations is an offence.
The maximum criminal penalty is $220,000 for an individual and$1.1 million for a body corporate. Civil penalties for the same amount apply. Other civil remedies include:
· injunctions
· damages
· compensatory orders
· orders for non-party consumers
· non-punitive orders
· adverse publicity
· disqualification orders.
Before taking enforcement action, consumer protection agencies can:
· require a business to provide information that will support claims or representations made about goods or services
· accept court-enforceable undertakings
· issue public warning notices.
The duo Soares/Vicente to deny any wrongdoing back in 2010 and continue using the fraudulent award as the only claim to fame by Yolanda Soares. The legal cases continue piling up.
The extent of their dishonesty reaches sometimes anecdotal as she claims being the innocent victim of some cosmic conspiracy set out to ruin her image and reputation... Ms Soares and partner-in-crime, Carlos Vicente clearly don't need others to do just that:
Futhermore there are serious suspicions of forgery of documents by Yolanda Soares/By The Music, false works declaration, plagiarism, endebtedness (the duo played the An'R Award charm offensive in order to secure media promotions but never paid back), fraud by deception, tax-evasion, failure to declare profits, failure to pay royalties, all these being investigated by the Portuguese Authors Society (Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores www.spautores.pt) and other relevant international authorities.
One very serious issue relates to RTP http://www.rtp.pt/homepage/ who apparently on repeated occasions (chronic incompentence or deliberate avoidance to pay copyrights royalties, remains to be established) and always involving singer Yolanda Soares' TV appearences; failed to credit the rightful authors for songs performed. This particular case led to the material being banned from public broadcasting, after suspicions of "Copyrights Usurpation" (the worst copyrights violation which the law contemplates internationally) arose. A legal investigation against RTP is underway:
To make matters even worse, legendary artist Barbra Streisand's legal representatives may well have started proceedings against Ms Soares' companies www.bythemusic.pt and www.topeventos.pt.
They came into possession of marketing materials and images copyrighted by Barbra Streisand's brand which appear to have been extensively used, without prior authorisation or any knowledge; by Carlos Vicente when trying to promote his dim star with their first album Music Box - Fado in Concert:
